Global Legal Counsel

Are you a specialist in  software contract law?  Planon is looking for an internal legal counsel to provide legal support for our business, enable Planon’s growth, and mitigate risk.

Providing legal support to the companies and departments of Planon: your job

As North American Legal Counsel and member of the global Planon Legal Department, you are responsible for providing legal support to the regional business areas of the Planon Group.  You will be responsible for delivering high quality and efficient legal support to all departments within the Planon Group Corporation in order to mitigate risks and to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Planon policies.

You successfully fulfill your role by:

  • Drafting and negotiating contracts with customers and suppliers
  • Assisting in drafting policies and ensuring compliance with policies
  • Continuously improving the contract management process
  • Providing legal and general advice on and implementation of special projects or areas (e.g. new business models, software platform licensing models, partnering structures, etc.)
  • Maintaining up-to-date legal knowledge and keeping Planon informed about applicable new regulations, laws, and case laws
  • Handling disputes, claims and preparation of court cases; liaising with external counsel
  • Involving and steering external attorneys and advisors
  • Conducting the business according to applicable law and company rules
  • Pro-actively contribute to the customer-oriented SSC image and high standard service level

Our ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

  • A law degree (juris doctorate), specialized in IT, software, and/or contract related law;
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role as an in-house legal counsel in an international setting or as contract lawyer at a law firm;
  • Proven knowledge of, and experience with structuring, reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of IT related contracts such as software license agreements, related maintenance and support agreements, consultancy agreements, partner agreements, SaaS agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, hosting services agreements, service level agreements, data processing agreements, supplier related agreements, etc);
  • Proven and strongly developed business sense and interest in technology to be able to work with internal and external stakeholders in an international, multicultural and multidisciplinary environment;
  • Proven ability to deal with a high workload under time pressure and have the determination to achieve high-quality business results with a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Proven to be a service-orientated team player, with an ambitious, hands-on, but persistent mentality.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills and fluent in English
